  • Project Size : 250,000 - 1,000,000 €

BACKGROUND P&G competes across many consumer-packed goods categories where malodor is a top consumer concern. We believe that incorporating volatile organic compound (VOC) adsorption technologies into products could serve our consumers’ needs for odor control. We have evaluated numerous adsorbent technologies and activated carbon fiber (ACF) is of particular interest. NEED DESCRIPTION We are seeking to consult and potentially partner with an expert in activated carbon fiber to understand the impact of precursors, processing conditions, and methods of incorporating ACF into textiles and/or nonwovens on volatile organic compound adsorption performance, durability, and large-scale manufacturability. As a first step, we are interested in the identified SME giving a seminar on the basics of ACF to educate the organization. Longer-term, we are interested in co-developing and testing various ACFs in our in vitro and in vivo methods to link the various parameters of ACFs to their odor control performance. Below are more specific descriptions of the expertise and capabilities we are seeking.

Aerofoil blade designs with double rooted serrations that reduce trailing edge noise to the maximum through destructive interference. They can be attached to existing blades so are particularly suitable for retrofitting to larger blades, such as wind turbines. They are however applicable to a wide range of blades moving in air and water, for example turbines, fans, rotary wings and fixed wings. The scale of application ranges from small drones (small blades operating at high speeds) to large wind turbines (large blades operating at slower speeds).

EnzoMeal™ - A Sustainable Food Source for Farm-Raised Fish

An advanced soybean-based fish feed, EnzoMeal addresses a key impediment to the widespread expansion of aquaculture, the fastest-growing food production sector. Historically, fisheries have used fishmeal as fish feed, but the primary ingredients—wild fish and shrimp—are rapidly dwindling resources, making the feed expensive and unsustainable. Soybean meal presents an attractive alternative. It closely meets the dietary requirements of fish: it is rich in protein content, essential fatty acids, and unsaturated fats, and it has the most balanced amino acid composition of all agricultural-based meals. Yet conventional soybean meal contains carbohydrates that fish cannot easily digest. Airable Research Lab partnered with Battelle to develop a technology that removes nondigestible carbohydrates and increases crude proteins in the soybean meal, resolving the challenges that to date have limited soybean use as a substitute fish feed protein.
